TGE23 Hot Work Die Steel
TGE23 is a patented hot work die steel grade developed exclusively by Tiangong International. Designed as a next-generation alternative to standard H13/SKD61, TGE23 incorporates proprietary alloy refinements that deliver measurably superior performance in the most demanding hot work applications — particularly high-pressure aluminium die casting and hot extrusion where thermal cycling is severe and extended die life is critical to production economics.

Material Properties
TGE23 belongs to the 5%Cr hot work tool steel family. Its proprietary composition is optimized for balanced hot strength, thermal conductivity, and fatigue resistance. Working hardness range is 42–50 HRC, with the lower end preferred for die casting cores (improved thermal shock resistance) and the upper end for hot forging dies requiring wear resistance. The steel responds well to nitriding, which can further extend surface wear life without compromising core toughness.
Through Tiangong's controlled steelmaking and refinement process, TGE23 achieves a more homogeneous microstructure with a finer carbide distribution than conventional hot work grades. This translates to better resistance to heat checking (thermal fatigue cracking) and improved toughness at working hardness, which are the two primary determinants of die life in production environments.
As an exclusive Tiangong grade, TGE23 is only available through authorized agents. PT. Precision Special Steel supplies TGE23 plate with original Tiangong mill certificates.
